Protect Mt. Banahaw. Say No to the Banahaw Wind Power Project!

Mount Banahaw is more than just a mountain. It is a protected landscape under Republic Act 9847, a vital watershed, a biodiversity hotspot, and a sacred cultural and spiritual site for countless Filipinos.
The proposed 247 MW Banahaw Wind Power Project will install 38 giant turbines and carve 36 kilometers of access roads into this fragile ecosystem. This means deforestation, loss of habitats, water insecurity, increased erosion and landslides, and the permanent desecration of Banahaw’s cultural and spiritual identity. Once these scars are made, there is no going back.

We are not against renewable energy. But projects that violate environmental laws, threaten communities, and destroy protected landscapes are not true solutions. Sustainable development should prioritize community-based tourism, regenerative farming, and nature-based solutions that protect both people and the environment.

We, the undersigned, call on the DENR, PAMB, and government leaders to uphold the law, protect Mt. Banahaw, and stop this destructive project. Let us preserve Banahaw’s forests, waters, and culture — for ourselves and for future generations.
